Bank of Sydney has strengthened its executive leadership team with the appointment of Sam Tomaras as Chief Retail Banking Officer and Hisham Nakkash as Chief Business Banking Officer.
The appointments are the latest step in CEO Kieran McKenna's continued build-out of the Bank's leadership team and support Bank of Sydney's next phase of growth, following its successful core banking transformation.
As part of the changes, Tomaras and Nakkash will join the Executive Team and report directly to McKenna. The appointments follow the planned retirement of long-serving Chief Banking Officer, Huw Bough, and a subsequent review of the Bank's banking division structure.
The review determined that establishing dedicated executive leadership across Retail Banking and Business Banking would provide greater focus on key growth segments, strengthen customer relationship management and decision-making and further support the Bank's growth strategy.
Under the new structure, Tomaras will lead Bank of Sydney's retail banking channels and customer propositions, including the branch network, Premium Banking, Lending, Deposits, Customer Service Centre, and Third-Party Distribution (Commercial and Residential Lending), while also supporting the Bank’s Community and Partnerships initiatives.
Nakkash will be responsible for leading and growing the Bank's Business Banking portfolio, including SME and Commercial Banking, Business Relationship Management, Business Development and Trade Finance.
