Maria Karavias appointed Chief Marketing Officer

The Bank is delighted to introduce Maria Karavias as the new Chief Marketing Officer, a new role aimed at optimising the Bank's customer value proposition. Maria's focus will revolve around refining customer segmentation strategies and enhancing customer experiences. Leveraging her extensive experience in financial services, media, retail, and business services, Maria is poised to drive exceptional customer and business outcomes. Prior to joining Bank of Sydney, Maria managed her own marketing consultancy business and held key marketing, product and digital positions within News Corp, Westpac, St.George and Woolworths.

Gary English assumes newly created Chief Operating Officer role

Assuming the role of Chief Operating Officer, Gary English spearheads the newly established Operating function. This unit will oversee the Property & Procurement, Operations, and IT departments, harmonising policies, processes, and initiatives to amplify customer and business outcomes. With a wealth of over three decades in financial services, Gary, who joined Bank of Sydney in 2017 as Chief Risk Officer, brings substantial experience to his new role. His prior engagements with Gateway Credit Union, Challenger, and the Commonwealth Bank uniquely qualify him for this pivotal responsibility.

Stella Grilis takes on role of Acting Chief Risk Officer

Stella Grilis steps into the position of Acting Chief Risk Officer, reporting directly to the CEO and becoming an integral part of the Executive Committee. In this capacity, she will continue to oversee the Risk function, ensuring the Bank's risk management strategies meticulously safeguard the interests of customers, employees, and stakeholders. Stella's extensive background, including pivotal roles such as Management and Regulatory Accountant and Credit and Liquidity Risk Manager, positions her as an exemplary steward of this crucial domain for the Bank.

These strategic adjustments bolster Bank of Sydney's organisational agility, resulting in more streamlined and impactful outcomes for both its customers and workforce.
