At Bank of Sydney, we're committed to helping you bank safely and confidently. Whether you're using your Visa Debit card, Online Banking or making payments, taking reasonable steps* to protect your banking access can help reduce the risk of unauthorised transactions and payment mistakes.

Here are some practical ways you can help keep your banking secure.

Using Your Card Safely

Keep your PIN secure - Never voluntarily share your PIN with anyone or keep unprotected written record of it with your card.
Stay alert at ATMs and payment terminals - Cover the keypad when entering your PIN, check that no one is watching you and remember to retrieve your card after making a transaction.
Keep your card safe - Store your card in a safe place and avoid leaving it unattended or allowing others to use it.
Monitor your card transactions - Regularly review your card transactions and account statements to help identify any unfamiliar or unauthorised activity.

Staying Safe With Online Banking

Keep your login details and devices secure - Never share your banking passwords or passcodes, including one-time security codes. Keep your devices updated and avoid storing passcodes in unprotected locations.
Check before you pay - Always verify the recipient’s account details and payment amount before authorising a transfer.
Stay alert to scams - Regularly check your account statements for unauthorised transactions. Be cautious of unexpected calls, emails or text messages requesting your banking details and avoid clicking suspicious links.
Keep your details up to date - If you change your address, phone number, email or other contact details, please contact us to update your details as soon as possible.
