Our History

Tracing our history back to 1986 as a representative office, we became a fully serviced and licensed bank under the name ‘Laiki Bank Australia’ in April 2001, with retail branches in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. Over the subsequent years we forged strong relationships with clients and community groups looking for a different banking experience.

In 2011, we were acquired by the Bank of Beirut Group (operating as ‘Beirut Hellenic Bank’) and later evolved into Bank of Sydney. We are an Australian Authorised Deposit-Taking Institution (ADI) covered by the Australian Government guarantee for deposits up to AU$250,000, so you can have peace of mind when banking with us.
