Bank of Sydney announces Hellenic Museum launch of photographic exhibition ‘Against the Ruins. Photographs by Nelly’s’

Bank of Sydney, a major partner of Australia’s Hellenic Museum, is proud to announce the launch of the Hellenic Museum’s photographic exhibition Against the Ruins. Photographs by Nelly’s, an exploration of works by legendary Greek photographer Elli Sougioultzoglou-Seraidari. The exhibition was opened on 29 August by the Victorian Premier, the Hon. Daniel Andrews, with Bank of Sydney Chairman Dr Nicholas Pappas and CEO Miltos Michaelas in attendance.

Mr Michaelas emphasised the importance of arts and culture in Australia, and the support that corporations can provide to artistic and cultural values.

“The Hellenic Museum is a source of Hellenic heritage and culture in Australia,” Mr Michaelas said. “We hold a shared desire to encourage further awareness of art and history while supporting the growth of diverse cultural values in Australia.”

The co-curated exhibition between the Hellenic Museum, Melbourne, Australia, and the Benaki Museum, Athens, Greece, not only aims to support the development of arts and culture in Australia, but also the professional development of both Australian and Greek curators and conservators.

“This unique partnership between our own Hellenic Museum and the internationally renowned Benaki Museum will combine the ancient with the contemporary through the exchange of collections, ideas and expertise,” said Premier Andrews.

With strong values in preserving and fostering art and culture, Bank of Sydney proudly supports the Hellenic Museum and the first exhibition of Nelly’s photographs in Australia.
