Bank of Sydney sponsors Aussie Golfer Dimitrios Papadatos

At Bank of Sydney, we are committed to supporting young talent all across Australia, so we’re excited to announce our sponsorship of professional golfer Dimitrios Papadatos.

Despite being just 27 years old, Greek-Australian Dimitrios already has numerous achievements under his belt. Dimi burst onto the scene in 2014 winning the New Zealand Open, he then went on to win twice in 2017 winning the WA PGA and the Victorian Open and was named the PGA Tour of Australiasia Player of the year. Following on from this, in 2018 Dimitrios proceeded to win the Portugal Open on the European Challenge Tour.

In addition to his personal achievements, Dimitrios can draw on the knowledge and support of another Australian sports legend, with former rugby league champion Braith Anasta as his sports agent.

“We are proud to support a talented individual who has achieved major success thanks to his skill and passion,” said Miltos Michaelas, Bank of Sydney CEO.

“It is not only his achievements, but also his grit, determination and perseverance to continue learning and improving as he navigates his golfing career.”

This perseverance is evident in how he bounced back after narrowly missing his European Tour card at the Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final in the UAE. Just two weeks later, Dimitrios finished second the 2018 Emirates Australian Open. This fantastic result earned him a place at the 2019 British Open to be held at Royal Portrush Gold Club in Northern Ireland, in what will be Dimi's Major Championship debut.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Dimitrios is about to tee off at the Australian PGA Championship on the Gold Coast. It’s the perfect opportunity to get back into the running for another European Tour card.

“In celebration of Dimitrios’s international success, our Bank of Sydney Ambassadors, Danny Chronopoulos and George Kostopoulos, will host Golf Days in New South Wales, Victoria and Adelaide,” Mr Michaelas said.

“To show our appreciation for all of our valued Bank of Sydney clients, they will be able to attend these events and meet Dimitrios Papadatos in person.”

Dimi will shift his focus in 2019 to balancing his playing schedule on the European Tour and the Australasian Tour with a view to securing full playing rights in Europe for the 2020 season. With unlimited potential and the professionalism to match, the Bank of Sydney family is enthusiastic about sponsoring Dimitrios, and we will watch his career with great interest.
